Our History - a family affair!

My Grandparents (paternal) Olive & Charlie Patterson ran a boarding house on Holy Island...Castle View. This is where my Dad & his two brothers were brought up. My Grandfather Charlie was also a farmer and he drove one of the old taxis across the sands in the days before the Causeway.

My Dad, Malcolm, was originally a fisherman. In 1991 my Mum & Dad decided to buy the Post Office and ran it together for 21 years. Michael had moved to Holy Island 4 years previously to us taking over & when he was made redundant we decided to buy the business from my Mum & Dad who wanted to retire. Our vision was to continue their successful business and add a cafe serving simple fresh food with accommodation.

Island Causeway Built

We are proud of our causeway but it really needs to be respected. Built in 1954 to replace the old ‘Pilgrims Way’. Stakes still mark the old route which can still be passable at low tide but extreme care must be taken.
